HKS
and Elysium Announce Technology Licensing Agreement
Robust
technology for geometry exchange extends ABAQUS/CAE capabilities
Torrance, Calif. and Pawtucket,
R.I. – April 23, 2002 – Elysium Inc., developers of CADporter data translation
software today announced an agreement with Hibbitt, Karlsson & Sorensen,
Inc. (HKS), makers of the ABAQUS® suite of software for advanced mechanical
simulation. HKS will integrate, license and market Elysium technology for
the direct, seamless exchange of CAD geometry into ABAQUS/CAE, the interactive
environment for creating, running and evaluating results from ABAQUS analyses.
This agreement will extend the capabilities
of ABAQUS/CAE to enable native geometry import from major CAD products including
CATIA, I-DEAS, Pro/ENGINEER, and Parasolid-based systems such as Unigraphics
and SolidWorks.
“HKS customers look to ABAQUS/CAE when they need a complete, stand-alone
environment for finite element modeling, solution and visualization using
ACIS, STEP or IGES geometry import,” said Mark Goldstein, President and CEO
of HKS. “Elysium technology will streamline the creation of ABAQUS finite
element models by accessing native CAD geometry directly. Direct geometry
transfer not only improves ease of use but also facilitates data integrity
when sharing geometry between CAD and ABAQUS.”
“The integration of CADporter with ABAQUS/CAE
establishes reliable interoperability for advanced simulation,” said Ken
Tashiro, Vice President and COO of Elysium. "HKS customers will benefit
from the proven robustness and quality of our software, which has matured
over 18 years of use as a solution for CAD import and healing.”

About Elysium Inc.
Founded
in 1984, Elysium (www.elysiuminc.com) develops, distributes and markets data
translator software to enable collaborative engineering environments.
Elysium has a successful track record with several major software companies
including Adobe Systems, Autodesk, CoCreate, PTC, Spatial Corporation and
SDRC. Its CADporter software exhibits superior 3-D geometry handling, management
of different topology representations and the automatic healing of inconsistencies
that regularly occur during the conversion of surface and solid CAD models.
CADporter allows true interoperability between ACIS-based applications, CATIA,
I-DEAS, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks and Unigraphics with the industry's highest
translation success rate. It enables accurate conversion of original source
data, which makes sharing information among several widely used CAD applications
an easier process. This rapid exchange facilitates improvement in designer
productivity and reduces cost associated with incompatible translation tools.
CADporter features the ability to read and write true native file formats.
